Learn how to use Conditional Formatting in the Intake Form builder to populate your contact cards with the correct contact type (Person or Organisation/Company).

Table of Contents

Step 1: Create a group of fields for Person contacts

1.    In the Intake Form builder, drag a new Group of fields component into the desired section. Give this group a relevant name such as "Personal Details" or "Individual Details".
2. Drag in Mapped fields into this group. Ensure these mapped fields are located in Person field types, e.g. Prospective Client > Person or Additional Contact > Person.
3.    Drag and/or rename the components to your preference.

Step 2: Create a group of fields for Company contacts

1.    Drag a new Group of fields component under the Group of fields you created in Step 1. Give this group a relevant name such as "Company Details" or "Business Details".
2. Drag in Mapped fields into this group.  Ensure these mapped fields are located in Company field types, e.g. Prospective Client > Company or Additional Contact > Company.
3. Drag and/or rename the components to your preference.

Step 3: Create a Contact Type Picker

Drag a Single select choice component to the top of the form. Enter the following information:
1.    In the Single select component, select the Conditional logic icon on the bottom-right corner (the two arrows).
2. Select Add condition.
3. Choose the following options in the drop-down menus:
  • Choice:  is

  • Answer: An Individual/Person

  • Result: Show

  • Component: Group

  • Group: Individual Details

4. Select Add condition again.
5. Choose the following options in the drop-down menus:
  • Choice: is

  • Answer: A Company/Business

  • Result: Show

  • Component: Group

  • Group: Company Details

6. Select Save.

Step 5: Test the flow

Select Preview form at the top of the Intake Form builder. The form will now guide the user to first select whether they are an individual or a company, and then present the relevant fields.

This ensures that the correct mapped fields are populated and that the matter will include either a Person contact or a Company contact accordingly.
